Frequently asked questions
What the API does, where its data comes from, and what happens at the edges.
Getting started
How do I get an API key?
The free key is self-serve: sign up with your email and it is on screen a minute later, along with a dashboard for usage and webhook logs. Paid plans are issued by hand for now from the Get an API key page, with quotas that match what you described. Send the key in the
x-api-key header on every request.Where does the flight data come from?
From established aviation data sources, normalised into one schema so your code never sees the difference. Live records cover flights from a few days before today to a couple of days after it, with schedules, estimated and actual times, gates, terminals, baggage carousels, aircraft and codeshares.
Is there an SDK?
Not yet. The API is plain REST and JSON with an OpenAPI reference, so
curl, fetch or requests is all it takes, and the docs show each call in several languages.Flights & subscriptions
How far ahead can I subscribe?
Up to seven days before departure. If the flight is not published upstream yet, the subscription is created as
pending, watched on a slow schedule, and you receive subscription.activated the moment it appears. The same flight number flies twice a day. Which one do I get?
The API refuses to guess. A lookup or subscription for an ambiguous number answers
400 with the legs it found; pass origin, destination or the leg's flightId to pick one.Can I look a flight up without subscribing?
Yes.
GET /v1/flights/{carrier}/{number}/{date} returns the full snapshot, and /timeline returns the airline's event history for that flight. Responses are cached for a period that depends on the flight's phase, so repeated lookups are cheap.Webhooks
How do I verify a webhook?
Every delivery carries a signature header with a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 of
${timestamp}.${rawBody} under your subscription secret. Compute it, compare in constant time, reject stale timestamps, and deduplicate on the event id, which stays the same across retries. What happens when my endpoint is down?
Deliveries are retried with exponential backoff, and every attempt is logged with its HTTP status and latency. After a run of failures the subscription is
suspended so we stop hammering you; resume it with one call, then read the delivery log to see what you missed.Something else? Ask the people who wrote the code.Contact →Telegram →Who is behind this →
