Countries and flags

Country names in any language, emoji, and SVG flags you can drop into a page.

Every airport in a flight snapshot carries its country with a name, an emoji and two flag URLs, so most integrations never call these endpoints directly. They exist for the cases where you need the list or the image on its own.

Countries

GET /v1/countries?lang=tr
GET /v1/countries/{code}?lang=tr

code is an ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code (TR, GR, US). lang is any BCP 47 language tag; names come from the Unicode CLDR data, so every language that Unicode covers is available without a separate dataset.

{
  "code": "TR",
  "name": "Türkiye",
  "emoji": "🇹🇷",
  "flagSvg": "https://api.flightbyte.dev/v1/flags/tr.svg",
  "flagSvgSquare": "https://api.flightbyte.dev/v1/flags/tr.svg?shape=1x1"
}

The list endpoint returns { "count", "data": [...] } with the same shape per entry.

Flags

GET /v1/flags/{code}.svg
GET /v1/flags/{code}.svg?shape=1x1

271 flags as SVG, in 4:3 by default and 1:1 with shape=1x1. The endpoint needs no API key and answers with Cache-Control: public, max-age=604800, immutable, so it is safe to reference straight from an <img> tag or a CSS background.
